The master carpenter, yours truly, was hard at work again this past weekend. I built the shelving Saturday, and it's pretty sweet, although you don't get the full effect from this photo due to it being primed and taken apart. For those that don't know much about boiler heating, there are times when you need to bleed the air out of each radiator to get the maximum efficiency out of the system. So I built the shelving with all removable shelves, and a hinged door so I can access the shut of and bleed valves. The idiots who did out old bathroom built a solid tiled wall around the radiator and covered up the bleed valve, and last year I had to cut a hole through the tile and wall to get to it. With that in mind, I built the shelves to make sure I, or any future home owner, can access the bleed valve.
We had another problem with our head board, which was that there is only 1 good wall to put a bed against, and it has a window in the middle of it. Most head boards at furniture stores will cover the window in some way, which looks ugly. So instead of finding a head board that wouldn't cover the window, we decided to incorporate the window
into the head board. It took about 2 hours to build, and consists of bead board, and some decorative trim/chair railing. Tomorrow night it get's its final coat of black paint.
I can't take all the credit in this post. While I was building these, Collette was painting the rest of the walls and the stair railing, which isn't fun work at all. She's a trooper.
